Getting there

Arrival and departure

Everyone travels together on one coach, both ways. Boarding is at the Berlin office and it drops us at the hotel entrance. The journey is about 270 km, north on the A19 past Rostock.

Be early, not on time. The coach cannot wait for latecomers and fifty-five people are on it. Bring headphones, water and something to do.
We booked a bus for everyone because we want the whole team travelling together. Driving yourself is for exceptional cases only and you need to agree it with Kate first.
Talk to Kate before you book or plan anything. Not afterwards. We need accurate numbers for the bus.
Parking: we have several spaces at the hotel. They are still limited, so confirm yours with Kate.
Public car park: about a 15 minute walk, Dierhagen Neuhaus near Birkenallee. Roughly 8 euros a day and the machine does not reliably take cards, so bring cash.
EV charging: two charge points on the hotel car park. They cost extra and you book them at reception.
Thu 20 Aug
Be in Berlin by Thursday evening. A Friday morning flight will not make the coach.
Fri 21 Aug
At the Berlin office by 07:45.
Sun 23 Aug
Back at the office around 15:15. Travel Sunday evening, nothing before 18:00.

Worth bringing

Pack a small day bag. Check-in only opens at 16:00, so keep swimwear and sports kit somewhere you can reach. Everything else goes into storage on arrival.
Please read

Safety and code of conduct

Four things to keep in mind, from the moment we board the coach until we are back in Berlin.

Water

Never swim after drinking. Not after dinner, not after the party. Swim in daylight and never alone: there are no lifeguards in the evening or at night, the Baltic has currents and the seabed drops away suddenly.

Respect and support

Our Code of Conduct applies for the whole trip, including the beach party. Harassment, bullying and disrespect are not tolerated. If you see something, step in or find Kate.

Alcohol and other guests

This is a work event. Drink like your colleagues have to work with you on Monday. The hotel is open to the public and it is peak season, with families around.

Sun, sauna, mosquitoes and ticks

The sea breeze hides the burn, so reapply sunscreen more often than feels necessary. Swimwear in the sauna, or a towel wrapped around you. Cover your legs on the bike tour and check yourself for ticks afterwards.
